List of Documents Required for India visa application

Tourist Visa (T)

 

Any applicant applying for fresh tourist visa, who after initial entry into India plan to visit another country and re-enter India before finally exiting, could be permitted more than one entry (up to 3 times, must be utilized within 60days), as the case may, be subject to their submission of a detailed itinerary and supporting documents (ticket bookings), and Y1400 besides normal tourist visa fees, application forms

For Japanese nationals

  1. Passport, with a minimum validity of Six months on the date of applying visa and beyond the period for which visa is being sought with at least two blank visa pages. It is advisable to have passport validity of 6 months when landing at any port in India.
  2. One photograph, Recent passport-sized  45mm X 35mm.   Please refer to Photo Specification
  3. Completed Visa Application (A4 size on both sides) signed and dated. Please view Sample Form (not for formal application use

For non-Japanese nationals

  1. Passport with minimum validity of Six months on the date of applying visa and beyond the period for which visa is being sought
  2. One photograph. Recent passport-sized  45mm X 35mm. Please refer to Photo Specification
  3. Completed Visa Application (A4 size on both sides) signed and dated. lease view Sample Form (not for formal application use
  4. Photo copies (A4 size) of following:
    1. passport particulars page – the page which carries photograph and personal details
    2. Japan visa page
    3. Alien Registration Card both front and back sides  (If the applicant has one)
    4. If the applicant has visited India before, the copy of previous visa stamp(s) and India immigration departure stamp(s)
  5. Chinese & Nigerian passport holders must submit the Itinerary issued by airlines or travel agency and financial proof by submitting bank passbook or bank certificate when applying for ‘Tourist Visa’.
  6. Afghanistan passport holders must submit the Original Note Verbal issued from Embassy of Afghanistan when applying for all kinds Indian Visa.

    Other type of visas


    Documents same as for tourist visa and additional documents as mentioned below:

    Effective from Jan 5, 2011, Business Visa Applications of following nationals will require the approval of MHA(Ministry of Foreign Affairs) causing longer time for visa(s) to be granted. Such applicants are therefore, advised to confirm their itinerary only after the visa is granted / issued.

    1, AFGHANISTAN 2, IRAN 3, IRAQ 4, NIGERIA 5, PAKISTAN 6, PAKISTAN ORIGIN (additional copy of the national ID card from Pakistan is required) 7, SOMALIA

    Consulate General or Embassy of India may ask for additional documents apart from listed below, if required. In that case, the time in obtaining visa may be longer than usual.

    Student (S) or Research (R) visas, from those holding ICCR Scholarships will require a minimum of three working days for Japanese nationals. (Osaka jurisdiction)

Business Visa (B)
  1. Original Invitation letter from company in India on company’s letter head and duly signed by authorized person
  2. Original Recommendation letter from company in Japan on company’s letter head and duly signed by authorized person


AIESEC

  1. Original Recommendation letter from AIESEC Japan and Invitation letter from AIESEC India
  2. Original Recommendation letter from company in Japan
  3. Original letter from acceptance company in India (company registration may be required)
Conference Visa (C) Conference Visa covers symposium, seminar, summit, workshop, congress
  1. Original Invitation letter from organization in India
  2. Original Recommendation letter from company in Japan
    Afghanistan, China, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Foreigners of Pakistani origin, and Stateless persons must submit additional documents as below;
  3. Event clearance from Ministry of Home affairs in India
  4. Political clearance form Ministry of External affairs
Employment Visa (E) The Employment visa should be applied/must be issued from the Country of Origin, or from the country of domicile of foreigner provided the period of permanent residence of the Applicant in that particular country is for more than 2 years
  1. Curriculum Vitae or personal history (Resume)
  2. Original Recommendation letter from company in Japan
  3. Original Invitation letter from company in India
  4. Original employment terms and conditions (Employment contract) & copy of it (Original contract would be returned after visa approval)
  5. Letter from Reserve Bank of India (RBI) or Certificate of Incorporation(COI) or other document showing the company is registered in India
  6. Government of India Foreign Collaboration (GOI) letter may be necessary in some cases.
  7. If applicant is not working in any company, he/she must submit ‘Self Recommendation letter’.


For Volunteer work with NGO, NPO

Applicant must submit the above mentioned No1, 2,3 and No5.
Journalist Visa (J)
  1. Applicant must get special approval from Consulate of General ,Osaka before applying for visa (06-6261-7299)
  2. Original recommendation letter from company in Japan
Research Visa (R) Applicant must get special approval from Consulate of General, Osaka before applying for visa (06-6261-7299)
Student Visa (S)
  1. Personal history or Resume
  2. Financial Proof (Bank Certificate)
  3. Original letter of admission & copy of it (Original contract would be returned after visa approval)
  4. Proof of school fee remittance & copy of it
For students under Indian scholarships (ICCR), applicants must first procure a letter from the Education Wing of Consulate of General, Osaka
Transit Visa (TR)
  1. If applicable, Destination Visa
  2. Copy of air ticket or Itinerary from Airline or Travel Agency
Entry Visa

Documents required to justify entry is dependent on the situation, as Entry Visa covers such diverse fields as spouse visa, internships, UNESCO, MOFA, JOCV , training, festival, forum mountaineering etc.

Entry visa to join working husband and child
(Child up to 21 years old)

  1. Copies of husband's passport and India visa
  2. Original Recommendation letter from company in Japan
  3. Original Invitation letter from company in India.
  4. Copy of Registration Report and Residence Permit of husband in India

Spouse or Child of Indian National
(Child up to 21 years old)

  1. Copy of passport of Indian national
  2. Copy of Japan visa of Indian national (If Japanese visa holder)
  3.  Alien registration card (If Japanese visa holder) and it’s copies of both sides
  4. Copy of marriage certificate in English (If submitting Japanese Koseki tohon, must be translated in English)
  5. Original visa request letter from Indian national for spouse or child
  6. Birth certificate of child, if Indian national's child's visa being applied
Medical Treatment Visa (M)
  1. Purpose of visit
  2. Original Medical documents from hospital
Medical Attendant Visa (MX) Application letter from the holder of the medical treatment visa along a copy of the M-treatment visa
Yoga/Dance/Music Visa (Y)
    1. Purpose of visit
    2. Original letter of admission & copy of it (Original contract would be returned after visa approval)
    3. Financial Proof (Bank Certificate)
    4. Proof of school fee remittance of copy of it
