
Japan Overseas Corporation - (JOC) has been authorized by the Consulate General of India, Osaka to handle Visa applications for all categories from Japanese to all other third country nationals except Diplomatic, Official and UN Passport holders.
India Visa Application Center (IVAC) Osaka, performs a number of routine administrative tasks on behalf of Consulate General of India, but has no involvement in visa decision making process. All applications are assessed by Consular officers at the Consulate in accordance with the Indian immigration legislation and policy and officers may decide to issue or refuse a visa based on the application. IVAC, Osaka does not take any responsibility if any application is refused by the Consulate General of India. IVAC, Osaka has commitment towards Consulate to procure appropriate documents from applicants and submit to the Consulate for smooth processing.
Japanese and Foreign nationals, including children, require a visa to enter India. Applicants should finalize travel arrangements to India only after ascertaining the visa requirements. Please note that visa validity is from the date of issue of visa and not from date of entry. For more details please visit http://www.immigrationindia.nic.in/.
For Foreign (Non Japanese) Passport holders, it takes about a week or more to process any kind of visa applications. For necessary documents, please refer to the list of required documents.
All Japanese Applicants and Travel Agents should apply for visas in their respective Jurisdiction as much as possible; e.g. applicants of Tokyo jurisdiction to apply for visa in Tokyo and that of Osaka jurisdiction to apply for visa in Osaka, as much as possible. The passport should be valid for 6-months on the date of application and beyond the period for which visa is being sought with at least 2 blank visa pages. Applicants are advised to check their passports before submitting their applications. However, it is advised to have passport valid for 6 months when landing at any port of India.

(i) Mr. Vikas Swarup, Consul General of India, Osaka-Kobe
Mr. Swarup joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1986. He has served in Turkey, USA, Ethiopia, UK and South Africa. He has been Consul General of India in Osaka-Kobe since August 2009.
He is also the author of two novels, Q&A, which was filmed as ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and Six Suspects, which have been translated into more than 40 languages, including Japanese.
(ii) Mr. Pieyush Gupta, Consul
Mr. Gupta has been posted in the Consulate General of India in Osaka-Kobe since August 2008. Prior to his posting in Japan, he has done postings in Indian Diplomatic Missions in Cuba, Malaysia and Namibia. He may be contacted for cultural, information, educational and administrative matters.
(iii) Mr. Ramesh Chander Goyal, Vice Consul
Mr. Goyal is the contact person for consular, visa and commercial related queries.
(iv) Mr. Akio Kaihara, Marketing Assistant
Mr. Kaihara is the contact person for commercial and trade related queries
The Consulate provides consular/ passport services to Indian nationals. The services include issue of new and duplicate passports, miscellaneous services on passports, issue of OCI and PIO cards, attestation of documents, etc.
Visa services have been outsourced to M/s Japan Overseas Corporation which runs the India Visa Application Centre in Osaka.
The Consulate General of India Osaka-Kobe has been functioning in Osaka since April 1993. Prior to this, it was located in Kobe.
